APPLICATION DATA SHEETMarine Ballast TanksPREPARATION: Pump out all water and physically remove excess scale or other loose material from the bottom of the ballast tank. Assemble a drum of RUST CURE, a strainer funnel, two pumps with plastic hoses and an all plastic sprinkler. APPLICATION: Affix the sprayer to the bottom area of the ballast tank and connect to #1 pump. Affix a plastic hose to the very bottom of the ballast tank and connect to #2 pump. Close the ballast tank and activate #1 pump for a continuous spraying of RUST CURE on the inside of the tank. As soon as RUST CURE fills the lowest place in the tank activate pump #2 and circulate the RUST CURE into the strainer funnel and back to the drum. Continue spraying until the top and sides of the inside of the ballast tank are free of rust. Turn off pump #1 and continue to pump all the RUST CURE from the bottom of the tank with pump #2. Blow dry the inside of the ballast tank by forced circulation of hot dry air. EXPECTATION: Assuming the pump and sprayer size are coordinated with the ballast tank size, then the continuous sprinkling of RUST CURE on the top and sides of the tank will remove all rust. When thoroughly dry RUST CURE will have penetrated the pores of the metal, stopped electrolysis and sealed with a thin but tough film (approx. .00061"). Most paints and conventional primers bond well to a surface treated with RUST CURE. (For specialty paints we recommend following the manufacturer's instruction after treating with RUST CURE). RECLAMATION: Residue will run to the bottom of, the tank and be pumped to the strainer for disposal or possible reclaiming as fertilizer. RUST CURE returned to the drum may be re-used and should not be disposed of. CAUTION: We do not recommend hand application of RUST CURE in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation, protective clothing and respirator equipment. Chemical reaction of RUST CURE with metal will emit gasses which are irritating to the skin and respiratory organs. PAINTED SURFACES TREATED, WITH RUST CURE
