APPLICATION DATA SHEET
Auto Restoration
RUST CURE® has numerous applications. This document details our recommendations for use in preparation for restoring autos before painting.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: Most autos need RUST CURing® prior to painting. This is especially true of autos driven where salt has been applied to roads during freezing weather or when driven on coastal beaches.
When rust is evident, Auto Paint Shops report that RUST CURE® works very effective. RUST CURE® may be applied with acid compatible sprayers (our 8 oz. bottle with plunger sprayer), (our 16 oz. bottle with trigger sprayer) or brush, sponge or cloth.
APPLICATION: Spray hard to get rusty areas before starting normal painting procedures. Underneath the auto, allow the RUST CUREd® surface to dry, then apply an undercoat. Inside channels; circulate hot air to assist drying before spray painting. On floor boards, allow to dry thoroughly, then paint. On outside surfaces; keep rusty areas wet with RUST CURE® until rust is softened, then wipe surface with a clean cloth or sponge dampened with RUST CURE®. This will produce a smooth surface ready for normal paint application.
PRIMED CONDITION: RUST CURE® is self neutralizing, penetrates the metal pores, stops electrolysis and leaves a thin but tough film, (approx. .000611). Most paints and conventional primers bond well to a surface treated with RUST CURE®. (For specialty paints we recommend following manufacturer's instruction after treating with RUST CURE®).
CAUTION: Keep auto in a well ventilated and dry area until RUST CUREd® surfaces are thoroughly dry. Avoid exposure to moisture in any form ; dew, snow, sleet, rain or condensate prior to drying. If so, a powdery residue may occur which may be removed by wiping with a clean cloth or sponge moistened with RUST CURE®.
DO NOT RINSE WITH WATER!!
SURFACE MUST BE THOROUGHLY DRY BEFORE PAINTING!!
PAINTED SURFACES TREATED WITH RUST CURE® LAST UP TO FIVE TIMES LONGER WHEN PROPERLY CURED.
