APPLICATION DATA SHEET
Metal Roof Restoration
RUST CURE® has numerous applications. This document details our recommendations for chemical treating of rust on a metal roof.
FOR LIGHT RUST: Apply RUST CURE® with an acid compatible sprayer or mop. We have had very good success with all plastic garden sprayers. Sprayers with metal parts should be washed thoroughly after use. Be sure to cover 100% of surface area. Allow to dry and inspect to make sure there is no sign of rust remaining. Repeat application if rust is still evident.
FOR HEAVY RUST: Use repeated applications, keeping the surface wet with RUST CURE® until the rust is softened before allowing to dry. After thoroughly dry, inspect to verify there is no sign of rust remaining. Repeat if rust is still evident.
BEFORE PAINTING: If rain, snow, sleet, dew or any form of condensate contacts the rust cured surface before it is thoroughly dry, a white dusty residue may occur. We recommend a repeat application to insure the tough film, (approx. .0006') has formed. Otherwise, be sure to brush the surface clean prior to painting.
PAINT PRIMING: A RUST CUREd® surface is a good primer for most paints. Conventional primers do add depth to the total paint application but are not necessary for adhesion of latex or enamel paints. For specialty paints we recommend following the paint manufacturer's instructions after treating with RUST CURE®.
COVERAGE: RUST CURE® covers 1000 square feet per gallon. will vary with method of application and the depth of rust.
RUST CURE® is self neutralizing and stops the electrolysis in the pores of metal when allowed to thoroughly dry. A good grade of paint, applied over a RUST CUREd® surface will extend the life expectancy for many years.
DO NOT RINSE WITH WATER!!
