Vehicle Maintenance
RUST CURE® has numerous applications. This document details our recommendations for use in general maintenance of vehicles in preparation for waxing or spot painting.
THINGS TO AVOID: Do not allow RUST CURE® to puddle or it will soften the paint. Do not allow to streak on a painted surface or it will remove pigment from the streaked area. Do not use on fabrics, leather or compositions.
CHROME SURFACES: Apply RUST CURE® and keep it wet with RUST CURE until rust has softened. Wipe very clean with a dry cloth and apply auto wax immediately. Feather cracks will still be evident but the surface will remain presentable. Inspect monthly and repeat as necessary.
RUSTY PAINTED SURFACES: Follow directions for over small areas at a time to minimize exposure.
RUSTY SPOTS: Apply with a cotton swab or small water color brush very carefully to the rusty spot making sure streaks are wiped clean with a dry cloth. As soon as the rusty spot has softened, wipe away the rust, repeat the application and carefully blot the excess with absorbent paper or cloth. Allow to dry thoroughly and paint with touch-up paint.
UNDER CHROME WINDOW STRIPS: Remove the chrome strips if possible Follow directions for rusty spots making multiple applications with a small brush until the channel is visible rust free. This is a difficult area to cure if the chrome cannot be removed. Use a cotton swab or small water color brush and try to apply RUST CURE® as deeply as possible. Allow plenty of drying time or use a hot air dryer to make sure the channel is thoroughly dry before painting.
INSIDE DOOR PANELS: Apply thoroughly and spray paint.
FLOORBOARDS: Scrape up dirt and excess rust flakes, apply RUST CURE® with acid compatible sprayers (our 8 oz. bottle with plunger sprayer), (our 16 oz. bottle with trigger sprayer) or brush, sponge or cloth. Allow to dry thoroughly before painting.
UNDERSIDE: Wash thoroughly with high pressure water hose. Allow to dry and spray rusty areas with RUST CURE®. When thoroughly dry apply an undercoating product.
DO NOT RINSE WITH WATER!!
SURFACE MUST BE THOROUGHLY DRY BEFORE PAINTING!!
PAINTED SURFACES TREATED WITH RUST CURE® LAST UP TO FIVE TIMES LONGER WHEN PROPERLY CURED.
