APPLICATION DATA SHEET
Welding Metal
RUST CURE® has numerous applications. This document details our recommendations for use on freshly welded joints and seams.
PROBLEM: Welded joints and seams are difficult to keep rust free after painting. Customers judge the quality of a product by how well it holds up after a period of exposure to weather.
PREPARATION: Most angle iron and tubing is delivered to the fabricator in various stages of oxidation (rust). This may be arrested or removed with RUST CURE® prior to or after welding.
REMOVE ANY OIL OR GREASE BEFORE RUST CURING !
APPLICATION: Apply RUST CURE® with brush or spray directly on a hot weld and watch it immediately turn white as snow. This is a good cured condition and paint will bond well to the joint or seam. Inspect the finished fabrication and spray or brush any visible uncured areas with RUST CURE®.
CAUTION: If rain, snow, sleet, dew or any form of condensate contacts the rust cured surface before it is thoroughly dry, a white dusty residue may occur. We recommend a repeat application to insure the tough film, (approx. .006") has formed. Otherwise, be sure to brush the surface clean prior to painting.
RUST CURE® is self neutralizing and stops the electrolysis in metal pores when thoroughly dry. A good grade of paint, applied over a RUST CUREed® surface will extend the life expectancy for many years.
DO NOT RINSE WITH WATER!!
SURFACE MUST BE THOROUGHLY DRY BEFORE PAINTING!!
PAINTED SURFACES TREATED WITH RUST CURE® LAST UP TO FIVE TIMES LONGER WHEN PROPERLY CURED.
